TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College announced on Thursday that celebrity chef, cookbook author, and television host Gerry Garvin will serve as the speaker for the college's 146th commencement ceremony on Saturday, April 30.

Also know as G. Garvin, he earned widespread fame for his television series, "Turn Up the Heat with G. Garvin," which ran for seven seasons on TV One.

Stillman College said the show’s popularity ultimately earned Garvin a second series on the same network entitled "G. Garvin: The Road Tour," which premiered in 2007. He was also featured in a Cooking Channel special — "Georgia Roadtrip with G. Garvin."

The commencement ceremony is set to begin at 9 a.m. and is open to the public at not cost.

Stillman College then said its mask mandate will be enforced.

The school also announced that 46 members of the 50th "Golden Class" Reunion will be honored during the ceremony, which will be streamed live.
