Chamber Of Commerce Of West Alabama's HQ Gets New Roof Through Partnership

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama has a new roof thanks to a partnership with roofing manufacturer GAF and Tuscaloosa-based Bama Roofing.

The Chamber says the new roofing system is part of a larger effort to transform the Chamber's headquarters into a workforce and community development center designed to support business growth, talent development and regional economic development.

"This investment helps ensure our building will continue to support businesses, workers and organizations that drive our local economy across West Alabama, especially here in Tuscaloosa," said Donny Jones, executive vice president and chief workforce officer for the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. "GAF has been a valued partner to our community for years, and this project is another example of their commitment to creating lasting impact in West Alabama."

The Chamber building is home not only to the Chamber and West AlabamaWorks, but also several nonprofit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa, the Tuscaloosa Education Foundation and Junior Achievement.

The Chamber said GAF donated the roofing materials for the project, while Bama Roofing installed a fully adhered GAF EverGuard TPO roofing system.

"Resilient communities rely on spaces that bring people together, and we're proud to support the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama in continuing to serve as a hub for local growth and collaboration," GAF's Chief Operations Officer Chris Peetz said. "Tuscaloosa is home to our employees, our manufacturing operations, and many organizations that help this community thrive."

GAF has operated a manufacturing facility in Tuscaloosa for nearly 50 years and employs more than 160 people locally.

The company says its Tuscaloosa plant produces enough roofing materials each day to protect the homes of more than 300 families.

GAF has also partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa for more than a decade, donating roofing materials for more than 100 homes.

More recently, GAF partnered with Habitat and Strengthen Alabama Homes on a FORTIFIED roofing initiative designed to improve homes' resilience against severe weather. The company also donated roofing materials for Stillman College's Hay College Center.

"As Tuscaloosa residents, we see firsthand the impact of the Chamber's work," said Alan Page, president of Bama Roofing. "Working alongside GAF, our team is proud to provide a roof that protects this vital space that is helping our neighbors build, grow, and succeed every day."

The project was completed as part of GAF Community Matters, the company's community investment initiative focused on supporting resilient communities through roofing expertise, donated materials and volunteer efforts.
