Chamber Hires Sumter County Native As Marketing & Communications Coordinator

The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama on Friday announced Shelby Gandy as its new Marketing and Communications Coordinator

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama on Friday announced that Shelby Gandy has been hired as its new Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

In the role, Gandy will work to keep membership and media updated on the Chamber and will also be tasked with promoting events, programs, campaigns and initiatives.

Additionally, she will be responsible for implementing the Chamber's marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, content creation and the production of Chamber publications, events, media, social media, marketing and materials.

An Alabama native, Shelby grew up in the town of Belmont in nearby Sumter County and went on to later attend Demopolis City Schools prior to college.

Shelby also has more than seven years of experience working events and weddings at Mimosa Ridge Wedding Chapel in Belmont.

The Chamber says Shelby previously worked for the City of Tuscaloosa's Strategic Communications office as a graphic design intern.

Shelby graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2022 from the University of West Alabama, where majored in integrated marketing communications (IMC), with a focus in graphic design.

She then immediately began the master’s program in IMC at UWA, which Shelby expects to complete in December 2023.
