City Of Tuscaloosa Designated HUD Housing Counseling Agency
Tuscaloosa on Friday announced that the city has been designated as a HUD Housing Counseling Agency.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa on Friday announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has designated the city as a HUD Housing Counseling Agency.

HUD Housing Counseling Agencies, the city pointed out, provide resources to homebuyers, homeowners, low-to-moderate –income renters and people experiencing homelessness. What's more, HUD Agencies aim to improve financial literacy, expand homeownership opportunities, preserve homeownership and improve access to affordable housing.

At present, the City of Tuscaloosa’s Office of Community and Neighborhood Services has four HUD-certified Housing Counselors who are approved by the federal agency to perform housing counseling services.
LaParry Howell, executive director of the city's Office of Community and Neighborhood Services, said housing counseling services are highly beneficial to those in the community.

“I’d like to thank our team members for their hard work to complete the certification process and prepare a successful Housing Counseling Agency application," he said.
