Coker Man Charged After Fatal Wreck Kills Texas Woman

ALEA said a two-vehicle crash at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday resulted in the death of 19-year-old Jada Christin Harris of Lewisville, Texas.

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — A Texas woman was killed and a Coker man charged with murder following a wreck Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 82, about 11 miles east of the Tuscaloosa city limits, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

ALEA Public Information Officer Senior Trooper Reginal King said a two-vehicle crash at 11:10 p.m. resulted in the death of 19-year-old Jada Christin Harris of Lewisville, Texas.

ALEA says Harris was killed when the 2015 Jeep she was driving collided head-on with a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 35-year-old Michael Ray Roberts of Coker.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene and Roberts was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.

According to Tuscaloosa County Jail records, Roberts was booked in to custody Thursday for charges of murder and theft, along with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

He remains in custody with his bond set at $215,000.

ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is investigating the wreck.
