"This is property that will benefit Maxwell Elementary on a daily basis as parking has always been an issue for the school," Nelson said. "We looked at this property when I was on the school board and it was not for sale. The parking lot will provide an additional 82 parking spots and Constitution Drive will be widened to allow traffic to flow more freely and safely on school days and provide more efficient drop off and pick up at Maxwell. I appreciate the cooperation of the school board on this important project."

The County Commission unanimously approved the measure for the new parking lot.
