Commission To Vote On Northside Subdivisions, Coker VFD Extrication Gear

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Commission is set for its regular meeting Wednesday morning, which will begin at 9 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse.

Here's a look at the stories I'll be following for Wednesday, Oct. 20.

  • County Administrator Melvin Vines will speak to Commissioners concerning redistricting, as legislators continue to hammer out the reapportionment process following the 2020 Census.
  • County Engineer Scott Anders will present subdivision proposals for several large projects, which will then be voted on by the Commission. This include three projects alone that will be zoned for the rapidly growing Northside High School. Click each of the following names of the subdivisions to see their locations: The Gates of Northside, Northside Estates & Eden Grove. The measures were offered up for first readings earlier this month.
  • District 1 Commissioner Stan Acker will request Community Development funding to provide extrication equipment for the Coker Fire Department, which will carry a price tag of $23,230, as $11,615 will be split between Commission Districts 1 and 4.
  • Acker will also propose $5,000 in Community Development funding to be awarded to Northside High School's Golf Team.
  • District 4 Commissioner Reginald Murray will present a request for Tuscaloosa County Public Works to stripe roads on the Sipsey Valley Middle School and high school campuses.
