Cottondale Southern Kitchen Opens In Former Southland Location

A new restaurant has officially opened its doors in a location previously occupied by one of Tuscaloosa's longtime culinary staples.

COTTONDALE, AL — A new restaurant has officially opened its doors in a location previously occupied by one of Tuscaloosa's longtime culinary staples.

Cottondale Southern Kitchen — located in the former Southland Restaurant at 5822 University Boulevard — opened for the first time on Monday and offers a diverse menu that places a focus on soul food and comfort classics widely expected in a meat-and-three restaurant concept.

This comes after Southland Restaurant announced in April that it would be closing for good.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the new hours for the eatery are Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
