What's more, Acker will seek to give $21,000 to the Northside High School baseball program for paving work to install a bullpen and pitching lane at its baseball facility in Samantha.

Acker also told Patch on Monday that if the measures get the green light, the county would contribute in-kind resources where it could, particularly on the Flatwoods repaving project, which represents cost savings and a win for the taxpayers.
"It's a benefit for the schools, a benefit for kids and their families and all their taxpayers and for me it's just a good example of us workin together," he said. "With Flatwoods, everybody is going to benefit when we are able to do those parking lots. They have been a problem for years with drainage."
Acker then commended Tuscaloosa County School System Superintendent Keri Johnson for spearheading the improvement projects over the summer.
"When she came in and realized what was going on [with Flatwoods drainage], she jumped on that said we had to fix it," he said. "I'm just really happy we can work together."
Apart from facility improvements, District 2 Commissioner Jerry Tingle will also propose an allocation of $20,000 from the county's American Rescue Plan Act Revenue Loss Fund for sports equipment for Holt High School.
The next meeting of the Tuscaloosa County Commission is set for 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, in the commission chambers at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse.
