Crimson Tide Standouts Earn Conference Honors

The honors come after No. 4 Alabama made easy work of Middle Tennessee in its season opener on Saturday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two Alabama football standouts earned weekly awards from the Southeastern Conference following the No. 4 Crimson Tide's 56-7 win over Middle Tennessee State to open the 2023 season.

Sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe earned his first-ever SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after accounting for five touchdowns and 258 total yards of offense.

Freshman defensive back Caleb Downs, making his first start for the Tide on Saturday, also earned SEC Co-Freshman of the Week.

Alabama will return to action on Saturday for a highly anticipated matchup with Texas at 6 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
