DCH Demolishes 70-Year-Old Trustee Hall On Tuscaloosa Campus
DCH Health System this week commenced demolition efforts on a 70-year-old building, as it plans to also replace its aged parking deck.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — DCH Health System this week commenced demolition efforts on a historic four-story building on its campus known as Trustee Hall.

DCH says the building had continual maintenance issues and had reached the end of its usable life, which prompted the demolition effort. Removing the aged building is also part of a larger effort by the hospital system to replace the South Parking Deck, which is nearly 50 years old.

Completed in 1952, Trustee Hall on the DCH campus in Tuscaloosa served as a dorm for students at the DCH nursing school, prior to the program later being integrated into the University of Alabama curriculum.

The hospital system says the building went through different transitions over the years, including serving as a mental health care facility and finally as office space for certain DCH departments, such as Human Resources, Finance and Marketing.
DCH said this week that the parcel of land where Trustee Hall was located will be replaced by a parking lot that will allow for about 165 cars. This will be done in an effort to help accommodate patients and visitors while the parking garage is replaced.
