DCH Foundation Celebrates Randall Family, Pastoral Care Program

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The DCH Foundation recently honored the Randall Family and the legacy of a pastoral care program serving cancer patients and their families.

The foundation hosted a gathering recognizing the family and the Pettus Randall Pastoral Care Program at the Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center.

Named in honor of Pettus Randall III, the program connects chaplains with patients and families to provide confidential, one-on-one spiritual and emotional support during cancer treatment.

The program grew from the Randall Family's experience after Randall was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2002 and received treatment at what is now the Manderson Cancer Center.

Cathy Randall said the care her husband and family received during his treatment helped inspire their commitment to providing similar support to others.

“Pettus was the love of my life and would have given so much more to this world had cancer not taken him at age 57,” Randall said. “It is deeply meaningful to see his legacy honored through this program.”

Brandt LaPish, vice president of development for DCH Health System and executive director of the DCH Foundation, said the family's support continues to have an impact at the cancer center.

“The Randall Family’s generosity has created a legacy of compassion that continues to touch patients and families when they need it most,” LaPish said. “This celebration was an opportunity to express our gratitude to the Randall Family and recognize the meaningful difference the Pettus Randall Pastoral Care Program continues to make.”
