Death Investigation Underway At Church In Northern Tuscaloosa County

A death investigation is underway at a church in Tuscaloosa County after investigators received a report Monday of a possible suicide.

NORTHPORT, AL — A death investigation is underway at a church in northern Tuscaloosa County after the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit received a report Monday of a possible suicide.

Just before noon Monday, yellow police tape was used to cordon off a section in the northwest portion of the large cemetery adjacent to Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Mormon Road.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, confirmed to Patch that the multiagency unit received a report of a potential suicide and explained that there did not seem to be any indication of foul play at this time.

No other details or circumstances were provided, as the investigation is in its earliest stages.
