Demopolis Woman Charged With Murder After Hitting Boyfriend With Vehicle On I-20/59

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has charged a Demopolis woman with murder after she struck her boyfriend with a vehicle Tuesday morning.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has charged a Demopolis woman with murder after she reportedly struck her boyfriend with a vehicle on Interstate 20/59 in Tuscaloosa.

Captain Marty Sellers, in an update to local media Tuesday evening, said that state troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency first responded at 11:14 a.m. to the scene and found a man trapped under a vehicle near the Skyland Boulevard exit.

Sellers went on to say that the victim was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

Officers then received information from witnesses that indicated that the incident was possibly intentional, he said, with investigators eventually arresting 28-year-old Angelica Quintana, of Demopolis, charging her with murder.

Quintana and the victim — identified by sellers as 27-year-old Dennis Melton, also of Demopolis — were involved in a domestic relationship at the time of the incident.

Sellers said Quintana will be booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, with her bond set at $500,000.
