Donations Sought To Cover Funeral Costs For Central High Student Killed in Accidental Shooting

The Tuscaloosa community is being asked for donations to cover funeral expenses for 15-year-old Zamarrion Watson.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa community is being asked to assist in burial expenses for the family of a 15-year-old Central High School student killed in what police believe was an accidental shooting in McKenzie Court on Thursday.

As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police officers responded about 6:25 p.m. New Year's Day to a reported shooting at 2401 DuPont Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Zamarrion Watson suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zamarrion's father, Preston Stewart, said his son was remembered as a deeply loved son, friend and classmate.

Stewart also said the family is seeking help with funeral and burial costs.

Zamarrion's family says donations can be made directly to Wills Funeral Home at 701 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Northport.

Donations can also be made by phone by calling (205) 758-3444.
