Druid City Brewing Co., NOLA Chef Hosting BBQ Fundraiser Friday
The Tuscaloosa brewery and a notable New Orleans-based chef will have a fundraiser featuring barbecue plates to raise money for charity.

TUSCALOOSA, AL —Druid City Brewing Co. announced this week it will team up with New Orleans chef Nathan Barfield for its "BBQ For The Boot" fundraiser for a Louisiana charity working to provide aid and resources for victims of Hurricane Ida.

Tuscaloosa's unofficial ambassador and Druid City Brewing Co. owner Bo Hicks told Patch this week that the event is scheduled for this Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Each plate will carry a suggested donation of $10. The meat for the fundraiser will be donated by Piggly Wiggly.

"What I hope we can do is give a little bit of love that Tuscaloosa received after the tornado," Hick said. "The outpouring of love and support we got was amazing and the ability to do a little good, while also providing some good food ... Good helping good."
All proceeds will benefit Imagine Water Works New Orleans — a charity that focuses on educating the public about living with water, while also working to reduce risks from flooding, pollution, and natural hazards. The charity has been heavily involved in recovery and aid efforts in Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Ida.

Barfield, a Monroeville native and a graduate of the University of Alabama, is the chef de cuisine at Turkey and the Wolf in New Orleans. Hicks said the accomplished chef approached the brewery about the initiative.

The plates will include pulled pork or chicken, along with sides of baked beans and andouille mac and cheese.
