Eli Gold To Miss Start Of 2022 Football Season Due To Health Issues
The legendary voice of the Crimson Tide will miss at least part of the upcoming season as he battles health issues.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama on Wednesday announced that legendary Crimson Tide football announcer Eli Gold will miss the start of the 2022 football season as he deals with health issues.

Gold has served as the Tide's radio broadcaster since 1988.

As part of the announcement, the university said that Chris Stewart — who anchors the Tide's football broadcast in addition to play-by-play duties for the UA basketball and baseball teams — will fill in until Gold's return to the airwaves.
What's more, UA said Stewart will also take over the hosting duties for "The Nick Saban Show" and "Hey, Coach" radio broadcasts when it returns on Aug. 18.
