TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Eutaw man was killed Thursday morning in a commercial vehicle crash near Demopolis in Marengo County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the fatal collision was first reported around 11:20 a.m. Thursday when the 2011 Freightliner tractor driven by William M. Lancaster, 69, struck the trailer of the 2000 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by a man from Livingston.

ALEA says Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was injured and transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 80 near the 24 mile marker, approximately six miles west of Demopolis.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
