TUSCALOOSA, AL — Here's a look at five of the storylines we will be watching this week, ranging from politics to sports.

1. The Northport City Council will have its regular meeting on Monday, which will see council members vote on pay raises for the future council and mayor, in addition to considering changes in qualifications for the open city administrator position.

2. The 2021 Alabama Legislative Session will kick off on Tuesday, which will see debate over numerous hot-button issues. Some of the most notable pieces of proposed legislation that have already been filed include one filed by Sen. Gerald Allen, a Tuscaloosa Republican, that calls for the easing of restrictions on gun possession and carrying; A bill filed that, if passed, would prohibit gender change therapy for minors and the withholding of certain related information from parents; A bill that would prohibit discrimination from public accommodations based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origins, along with apply the same restrictions to school boards.

4. Kentuck Arts Center will kick off its premiere 2021 exhibition on Tuesday. Titled "Good Trouble," the exhibition spans Kentuck's Museum, Teer, and SoNo galleries and features the work of at least seven Black artists from Alabama. Participating artists include: Tony Bingham, Lynthia Edwards, That's Sew Gee's Bend, Darius Hill, John “Jahni” Moore, Ruth Robinson, Yvonne Wells, and Bernard Wright. The exhibition is titled as such in honor of the words of the late congressman John Lewis, who encouraged those fighting for racial equality to "Get in good trouble, necessary trouble." 5. The No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team (14-4, 9-0 SEC) will host LSU at Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday as the team looks to remain undefeated in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will also seek to rebound from a 66-61 road loss to Oklahoma on Saturday.
