Former Brookwood High Standout Headed To College World Series With Ole Miss
Tuscaloosa County will at least have one of its own listed on the roster for a team in the 2022 College World Series.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — While the hometown University of Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team fell well short of paving a path to the 2022 College World Series, Tuscaloosa County will at least have one of its own listed on the roster for a team that punched its ticket to Omaha on Sunday.

Brandon Johnson — a graduate of Brookwood High School and senior mechanical engineering major at the University of Mississippi — is a relief pitcher for the Ole Miss Rebels, who swept Southern Miss in the Hattiesburg Super Regional over the weekend to advance to the College World Series. He also represents the only student-athlete from Tuscaloosa County who will appear on a roster during the College World Series.

During the 2022 regular season campaign for the Rebels, Johnson tossed 39.2 innings out of the bullpen, recording 66 strikeouts and posting a 4.08 earned run average on the year.
A four-year starter for Brookwood High baseball coach Jeff Bell, Johnson also lettered four years in both basketball and football for the Panthers. A talented multi-sport athlete, he was named a AHSAA All-Region selection in both baseball and football in 2017.

After graduating from Brookwood High, Johnson took his talents to Columbia State Community College in Tennessee and would go on to earn NJCAA Pitcher of the Week on two separate occasions over his two seasons.
Johnson posted a career record of 8-0 for CSCC, striking out 109 batters over 80.2 innings of work.
He is the son of Michael and Sandy Johnson and has two sisters: Katie and Lynsey.
The 2022 College World Series is set to begin on Thursday, June 16 and conclude on Monday, June 27 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. The event will be broadcast on ESPN.
