Former Brookwood Star Strikes Out Side, Earns Save In College World Series Final
Former Brookwood High standout Brandon Johnson secured the save as Ole Miss baseball won its first national title in program history Sunday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Brookwood High School three-sport standout Brandon Johnson came on in the top of ninth inning for Ole Miss, securing the save to help the Rebels grab the Men's College World Series title over the Oklahoma Sooner in Omaha.

To make the appearance even more worthwhile for the hard-throwing Cottondale native and former Panther, he struck out the side to slam the door on the Sooners 4-2.

The national title is the first in program history for Ole Miss baseball.
A four-year starter for Brookwood High baseball coach Jeff Bell, Johnson also lettered four years in both basketball and football for the Panthers. A talented multi-sport athlete, he was named a AHSAA All-Region selection in both baseball and football in 2017.

After graduating from Brookwood High, Johnson took his talents to Columbia State Community College in Tennessee and would go on to earn NJCAA Pitcher of the Week on two separate occasions over his two seasons.
Johnson posted a career record of 8-0 for CSCC, striking out 109 batters over 80.2 innings of work.
He is the son of Michael and Sandy Johnson and has two sisters: Katie and Lynsey.
