Former Lake View Town Clerk Indicted For Ethics Violations
The former town clerk for the City of Lake View has been indicted by a Tuscaloosa County grand jury for ethics violations.

LAKE VIEW, AL — A West Blocton woman and former town clerk for the City of Lake View has been indicted by a Tuscaloosa County grand jury on two counts of using her office for personal gain.

Crystal Sellers, 42, was processed at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Wednesday, where her bond was set at $5,000, according to Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court records.

The first count — a Class A misdemeanor — accuses Sellers of cashing an illegally-issued paycheck, while the second count cites her alleged use of city equipment and materials to do so, which is a Class C Felony.
Lake View officials confirmed to Patch on Friday that Sellers left her office in July 2020, which occurred on the eve of wholesale changes being implemented on the City Council and in the mayor's office.

It remains unclear exactly how much Sellers is accused of taking from city coffers and the case will now be prosecuted by District Attorney Hays Webb's office.
