Former MLB Prospect Kevin Bass Named Hitting Coach At Bevill State

FAYETTE, AL — Bevill State Community College has hired another hometown product as the hitting coach for its baseball team.

Kevin Bass, a former standout at Fayette County High School, Major League Baseball prospect and Democratic gubernatorial candidate, will now join the staff for head coach Coley Blakeney — a fellow graduate of Fayette County and former Bevill State baseball player.

Bass was drafted out of Fayette County by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 1998 draft, playing third base and outfield in the minor leagues for five seasons.

During that time, Bass logged 29 home runs and 105 RBIs.

In addition to his talents on the baseball diamond, Bass is also an accomplished businessman who, along with his other pursuits, started Bass Homebuilders in 2018. `
