Former Northside Softball Standout Transfers To Alabama

Kinley Pate, a former standout at Northside High School, has transferred home to the Capstone after her freshman year at Samford.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama softball on Wednesday announced that sophomore outfielder Kinley Pate, a former standout at Northside High School, has transferred home to the Capstone after her freshman year at Samford.

During her freshman campaign in Birmingham, Pate appeared in 36 games, including 17 starts. She also scored 13 runs and was second on the team with eight stolen bases in nine attempts.

Playing for Northside High School and head coach Tommy Honeycutt, Pate hit .523 with 25 RBIs and 68 stolen bases her senior season. The performance was good enough for Pate to 4A first team All-State honors.

"I am so thankful for the opportunity to be part of the Crimson Tide family," Pate said. "Being from Tuscaloosa, I have cheered on Alabama Softball for as long as I can remember and now my dream of playing for Alabama has come to life. I am so excited to make the most of this blessing and to give this program my all."

Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy said Pate is a green-light baserunner with a really good short game, great bat control and speed in the outfield.

"We welcome Kinley and her family to our Alabama softball family," he said. "We love that she is a local product of Northside High School."
