Former School Board Member Named To Alabama Nursing Hall Of Fame

Earnestine Tucker and seven others will soon be inducted into the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing this week announced that former Tuscaloosa City Schools Board of Education member and nurse practitioner Earnestine Tucker will be one of eight inductees into the 2023 Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame.

Tucker, an honors graduate from Miles College and St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, became an OB-GYN nurse practitioner after attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.

Tucker was first elected to the city school board in 2005 and served three terms before being unseated in the 2017 election.

The Hall of Fame was established by the Capstone College of Nursing’s Board of Visitors in March 2001 in an effort to honor nurses and others who have brought honor and fame to the profession of nursing and the state of Alabama.

  • Dr. Jennifer Coleman
  • Dr. Joy P. Deupree
