Former Shelton State Baseball Standout Corbin Grantham Joins Father On UAB Football Staff

Former Shelton State Community College baseball standout Corbin Grantham has been hired by UAB

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Shelton State Community College baseball standout Corbin Grantham has been hired by UAB head football coach Alex Mortensen as a quality control assistant coach.

He will join a coaching staff that also features his father, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

Grantham spent the 2025 season as a defensive assistant at Oklahoma State.

He played two seasons of college baseball at Shelton State Community College from 2022–23, where he posted a career .288 batting average and was a member of the program’s 2023 ACCC state championship team.

After leaving Shelton State, Grantham continued his baseball career at Radford from 2024–25.

Grantham recorded a .993 fielding percentage over two seasons with the Highlanders, along with 49 hits, 40 runs scored and 26 stolen bases.

UAB will open the 2026 season on Sept. 5 when the Blazers travel to Urbana-Champaign, Illinois to take on Illinois.
