Gordo Woman Charged With Alleged Stimulus Check Scam
A Gordo woman has been charged with theft after entering a false claim that her Economic Impact Payment had been stolen.
GORDO, AL — A Gordo woman has been arrested and charged in connection to a federal stimulus check scam, authorities announced on Friday.

24th Judicial District Attorney Andy Hamlin says Charlie Antaira Craig, 37, is accused of cashing her federal Economic Impact Payment, before then filing a claim that it had been stolen in order to receive a replacement.

Craig was charged with first-degree theft Thursday. As of Friday, Hamlin said she remained in the Pickens County Jail Friday with bond set at $5,000.
Hamlin then encouraged those with information about the case or any others involving stimulus funds fraud to call (205) 367-9915.
