Gordo's Landon Fike Earns MVP Honors In AHSAA North-South All-Star Game

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Gordo High School baseball standout Landon Fike earned Most Valuable Player honors for the North squad Monday in the Alabama High School Athletic Association's North-South All-Star Game at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.

The North team was coached by Hillcrest High School's Mark Garner and Fayette County High School's Brandon Stocks.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Hillcrest High's Evan Williams went 1-for-1 with a single and a pair of walks, while Fike went 1-for-2 at the dish with two RBIs on a single.

Fike also logged two strong innings of relief in game one, where he allowed only one hit and struck out two. In game two, which ended in a 5-5 tie, Fike secured his third RBI of the day.

Rounding out the west Alabama connections for the North, Tuscaloosa County High standout Landon Nicholas scored a run in the first game after reaching base when he was hit by a pitch.

The North won the first game 11-4, with six hits and seven walks.
