TUSCALOOSA, AL — Several Tuscaloosa County residents were honored earlier this week as part of Historic Tuscaloosa's annual meeting and awards ceremony.

Here's a quick look at the honorees:
- Historic Tuscaloosa 2022 Brick and Mortar Award — Marty and Susan Hamner; Angie and Paul Moreton; Ben Uzzell.
- 2022 Educator of the Year — Camilla Canty for her work digitizing the organization's archives.
- 2022 Volunteer of the Year — Sherry Jones for her support of the activities of the Cameo Guild program.
“Historic Tuscaloosa depends on our volunteers who make a big difference in how we are able to maintain our mission," Historic Tuscaloosa Executive Director Will Hawkins said. "We couldn’t exist without their dedication and we thank them for all they do."

Founded in 1966, Historic Tuscaloosa works to preserve and promote Tuscaloosa County’s historic resources, while operating and maintaining five historical landmarks: the Old Tavern, the Battle-Friedman House, the Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion, the McGuire-Strickland House, and the Murphy African-American Museum.
