At the former home of the University of Alabama’s golf teams, Iron & Ember will feature four state-of-the-art Golfzon simulator bays, a private boardroom-style meeting space, upgraded VIP range and short game access, fitness amenities, firepit seating, and a family-friendly lounge — all in a comfortable, all-weather environment designed for year-round use.

“This is a one-of-a-kind facility for Tuscaloosa,” PARA CEO Brian Davis said. “Whether you're hosting a meeting, working on your swing, or enjoying time with your family, Iron & Ember offers a space where people can connect, grow, and have fun — no matter the season.”
Davis said the project builds on the legacy of the Jerry Pate Golf Center, which opened in 2004 as a state-of-the-art training facility for Alabama golf.

The facility and boardroom will retain the Jerry Pate namesake and continue to honor the Crimson Tide legend who designed the course and original practice facility at Ol’ Colony.
PARA also said indoor golf is currently outpacing traditional course play thanks to its accessibility, efficiency, and modern appeal.
“We’re creating a space that feels both elevated and welcoming, while honoring history and inspiring new legacies,” Davis said. “It’s for athletes, professionals, families, and anyone looking to forge their game — whether that’s on the course, in the boardroom, or both.”
Davis said PARA is currently in conversations with potential naming bay partners and community supporters.
He then said businesses, foundations, and individuals interested in being part of this next chapter in Tuscaloosa recreation are encouraged to reach out to learn more.
PARA says earlybird pre-launch discounts on annual passes and membership options are available.
