Investigators On Scene Of Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting In Vance

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday morning during the execution of a search warrant in Vance.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency task force, told local media that investigators responded to the 13000 block of Gladys Drive in Vance after Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a shooting while serving a warrant.

Kennedy said the subject of the warrant was shot during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.
He then said a second individual was also shot and pronounced dead.

Sources outside of the Violent Crimes Unit told Patch the shooting occurred around 5 a.m.
Kennedy also said investigators and supervisors not affiliated with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office will handle the investigation into the shooting.
It does not appear that any law enforcement officials were injured during the shooting.
Kennedy declined to provide more information at this stage in the investigation.
