Iowa Man Killed In Sumter County Tractor-Trailer Crash

An Iowa man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Sumter County Thursday morning.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An Iowa man was killed in a commercial vehicle crash in Sumter County Thursday morning.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) told local media that the single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5 a.m. Thursday when a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Luqman A. Goher, 31, left the roadway, struck a ditch and then hit several trees.

Goher, a resident of Ankeny, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA said the crash occurred on Interstate 59 near the 26 mile marker, roughly 11 miles northeast of Livingston.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
