Jefferson County Woman Killed In Saturday Night Crash Near Coaling

A Jefferson County woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night Interstate 59, roughly one mile north of Coaling.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Jefferson County woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa County, roughly one mile north of Coaling.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a press release that the crash occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. Saturday when a 2019 Honda Accord driven by Jamya S. Tate, 21, of Vestavia Hills, left the roadway and struck several trees before colliding with a ditch.

Tate was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the car.

ALEA said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
