Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media that the second suspect in the killing of David Martin, Jr. on Valley Hills Drive is under the age of 18 and will be charged as an adult.

However, he then cited a law passed by the Alabama Legislature last year that prohibits law enforcement from releasing photographs, likenesses, and personal identifying information on juvenile suspects under the age of 18.

The arrest is the second in the murder probe, after investigators charged Ladamien Rogers-Wallace, 18, with capital murder earlier this week, as Patch previously reported.

Kennedy then said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.

The initial call of the shooting near 43 Valley Hills came in to the Northport Police Department at approximately 3 p.m. Monday. Kennedy told media at the time that one person — later identified as Martin — was found to have been shot multiple times, including in the chest, while sitting in his vehicle.

Martin later died from his injuries Monday evening, shortly after being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center.

His car was a central point of focus for investigators on Monday, as its passenger and rear windows were visibly damaged by what appeared to be gunfire.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate the fatal shooting and Kennedy said anyone who witnessed or has any information in regards to the shooting is asked to contact investigators immediately at (205) 464-8692.
