Kentuck Art Center Promotes Skinner To Deputy Director

Kentuck Art Center on Friday announced that its director of operations, Exa Johnson Skinner, has been promoted to deputy director.

NORTHPORT, AL — Kentuck Art Center on Friday announced that its director of operations, Exa Johnson Skinner, has been promoted to deputy director.

Skinner first began her time at Kentuck in 2015 when she was hired as its program manager, before going on to be promoted to director of operations in 2019.

As deputy director, Skinner will be in charge of overseeing day-to-day operations for the art center, while also working with the executive director to develop long-term strategies and opportunities.

Kentuck said Skinner earned her undergraduate degree in theater and creative writing from the University of Alabama, and is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA program at the University of North Alabama.

She is also a member of the Grant Professionals Association, the Project Management Institute, University of Alabama Alumni Association, and a recent inductee to the International Society of Female Professionals.

Apart from her professional life, Skinner is a certified yoga instructor and enjoys sewing, painting, and outdoor activities. Skinner also serves as the costume designer, fight choreographer, and actor with the Rude Mechanicals — a group that holds outdoor performances of William Shakespeare's plays.

Skinner and her husband Christopher have two children, Hendrix and Asa, in addition to a cat named Tybalt.
