Kevin Turner Appointed To Northport Planning & Zoning Commission

Kevin Turner has been appointed to to serve as the administrative official for the city's Planning and Zoning Commission.

NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport City Council on Thursday unanimously voted in favor of appointing Kevin Turner to serve as the administrative official for the city's Planning and Zoning Commission.

Turner, who works as director of Logistics and Asset Management for the City of Tuscaloosa, will fill the seat vacated by James McKinney, with his term running through Nov. 3, 2025.

He has been employed by the City of Tuscaloosa for the last 16 years, working in his current position since June 2020.

Turner holds a bachelors degree in public administration from the University of Alabama, along with numerous professional certifications.

The advisory board is tasked with holding hearings and providing its perspective to the City Council regarding zoning ordinances, building projects and other measures. Northport's version of the concept features six appointed seats, a designee for the mayor, a representative from the City Council and an administrative official.

The Northport Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in Northport City Hall.
