Lady Bucs Point Guard Named ACCC Player Of The Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College women's basketball point guard Nya Valentine has been named the Alabama Community College Conference Player of the Week for her contributions in two big early-season victories for the Lady Bucs (5-1, 2-0 ACCC).

Valentine, a freshman from Mobile, was honored for posting 28 points in Shelton State's 111-16 win over Coastal Carolina, in addition to her 21 points scored in a 78-42 win over East Central. Over the week, she finished with a 63% shooting percentage.

For the 2021-22 season, she is shooting 56.6% from the field and remains perfect from the free-throw line.

While not on her stat line for her most recent accolade, Valentine led the Lady Bucs to another lopsided road victory Monday night, scoring 24 points in a 123-33 win over Lurleen B. Wallace.

The Lady Bucs will travel next to Scooba, Mississippi on Monday, Nov. 29 to take on East Mississippi Community College.
