Large Police Presence At Hillcrest High School; No Active Shooter
A large police presence has been reported in the area of Hillcrest High School and Highway 69 South in Tuscaloosa County.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — A large police presence has been reported in the area of Hillcrest High School and the school has reportedly been placed on lockdown after a threat was made to the school Tuesday morning.

When contacted, the Tuscaloosa County School System acknowledged the situation but said it could not provide immediate comment. However, TCSS spokesperson Terri Brewer confirmed to Patch that there was no active shooter.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office says it is still actively working to secure the school property out of an abundance of caution and explained it will lift the lockdown when the security sweep is complete.
The Tuscaloosa Police Department said the all-clear was given at 10:24 a.m. and said parents of Hillcrest High students were being directed to Valley View Baptist Church at 8820 Highway 69 S.

In a message to parents, TCSS said there was no evidence of an immediate threat to the safety of students, faculty and staff.
Eyewitnesses told Patch of numerous police vehicles and a helicopter in the area of the school, but no other official details have been released at this time.
The news also comes amid a rash of similar lockdowns after schools across Alabama received threats Tuesday morning.
