The Crimson Tide men's basketball team, led by second-year coach Nate Oats, will begin the 2020-21 season ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll, which was released earlier this month. The team returns four starters and seven letterwinners from last season and also signed the nation's ninth-ranked recruiting class.

Earlier this month, UA announced it would play four non-conference games at home, in addition to four neutral site games and one true road game to make up its non-conference slate for the season. Ahead of SEC play, the program says the opener against JSU may represent one of the best times to see the Tide play in person, as it will be the only home men's basketball game until Alabama hosts Furman on Dec. 15.

The Crimson Tide comes off of a 2019-2020 season that saw Oats in his first season lead the team to a 16–15 record, going 8-10 in conference play.
