Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Birmingham say the primary threats include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size and the possibility of brief, isolated tornadoes.

Storms are expected to develop throughout the day Tuesday, with showers and thunderstorms likely and a high near 83 degrees.

Rain chances are around 80%, with heavier downpours possible in stronger storms.

The threat will continue into the overnight hours, with showers and thunderstorms expected before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Rain chances increase to 90% overnight, and rainfall totals between three-quarters of an inch and one inch are possible.

The NWS says conditions are expected to remain unsettled into Wednesday, with additional showers and thunderstorms likely, particularly between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Rain chances will remain high at 70%, though forecasters say some partial clearing is possible later in the day.

Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, identify a sturdy shelter location and stay updated on changing conditions throughout the day and overnight.
