Maddox Declares Victory, Secures Fifth Term As Tuscaloosa Mayor

Incumbent Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox secured more than half of the ballots cast Tuesday night on his way to a fifth term in office.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox held a press conference at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater Tuesday night to declare outright victory in the three-candidate mayoral race, paving the way for his fifth consecutive term in office.

Maddox defeated former Alabama football player, pastor and radio personality Martin Houston and University of Alabama faculty member Serena Fortenberry in what he referred to as the toughest election of his career, including his failed gubernatorial bid.
