Man Charged With Impersonating Police Officer In Walker County
The Walker County Sheriff's Office has charged a man after receiving complaints of a man stopping vehicles claiming to be a police officer.
JASPER, AL — A man has been arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer in Walker County after the sheriff's office received complaints about a man reportedly stopping vehicles and claiming to be a police officer.

Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith on on Wednesday that investigators followed up on the complaints and developed a suspect, who was contacted by deputies on Tuesday.

Smith then said a 64-year-old man turned himself in to the sheriff's office Wednesday morning, where it was determined that he was presenting a Jefferson County Commission Card and badge issued to him in 1982 by former Jefferson County Sheriff Mel Bailey.
The suspect is not a police officer, the sheriff said, and his name is being withheld while the investigation looks into other potential complaints.
