Man Dead After Being Struck By Train In Tuscaloosa Tuesday

A man was pronounced dead at the scene after reportedly being struck by a train near Veterans Memorial Parkway on Tuesday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has confirmed that a man was pronounced dead at the scene after reportedly being struck by a train near Veterans Memorial Parkway on Tuesday.

TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor, in response to an inquiry from Patch, said the department was contacted by Norfolk Southern at 3:37 p.m. on a report that a train had struck someone walking along the tracks in the area of Veterans Memorial Parkway and 39th Avenue East.

"Officers responded and found that a man in his 50s had been hit and died at the scene," she said, before mentioning that the case had been handed over to the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.
