TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Jacksonville man was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash west of Brookwood.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says Jonathan D. Goodner, 47, died after the 2023 Ford Edge he was driving left the roadway and struck a sign, a ditch and a tree at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4.

Authorities said Goodner was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 216 near the 20-mile marker, about five miles west of Brookwood in Tuscaloosa County.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
