TUSCALOOSA, AL — It was an historic night in Tuscaloosa on Thursday as the the No. 11 Alabama soccer team (7-1-1, 1-0-0 SEC) upset No. 5 South Carolina, which marks the first time in program history that the Tide has defeated two top-10 opponents in a single season.

Alabama would strike first over the Gamecocks (5-1-3, 0-1-0 SEC) when Felicia Knox broke a scoreless 53 minutes of competition by driving a ball into the back of the net.

Riley Mattingly Parker then fought her way onto the end of a free kick from Knox about a minute later to head Alabama's second and final goal into the back of the net. The Tide would go on to win 2-0 over their highly-touted visiting opponents.
"What a massive win for our program tonight," UA head coach Wes Hart said. "I thought we played well from start to finish and dominated large stretches of the match. I thought it was our most complete game of the season. So many great performances by so many different players. So great to get a top-five win at home in front of an awesome crowd. Once again, they played a big role in the game"

Alabama will host Chattanooga on Sunday at the Alabama Soccer Stadium at 6 p.m.
