TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent Mike Daria this week was named the School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA)/Schneider Electric Superintendent of the Year.

Daria, who has worked at TCS in some capacity since 1996, won the award after being named among several district finalists.

SSA says the Alabama Superintendent of the Year competes at the national level to become one of four nationwide finalists.
Daria will now be honored at a luncheon during the SSA Legislative Conference in Montgomery, with Schneider Electric providing the winner of the award with a Superintendent of the Year ring and travel expenses to the national conference.

Described by TCS as a "veteran educator, Daria has worked as a TCS English teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director of personnel, and assistant superintendent prior to being named superintendent in 2016.
