Mississippi Murder Suspect Charged After Pursuit In Tuscaloosa County

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Mississippi man wanted for murder is facing additional charges after a pursuit Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa resulted in his arrest.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office says Arti Brown, 31, of Oktibbeha County, was taken into custody after his vehicle was spotted traveling westbound on I-59/20 from Jefferson County.

TCSO said Saturday morning that deputies were able to locate the vehicle around the 73 mile-marker and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, Brown reportedly fled, prompting the pursuit.

Brown allegedly continued south on the interstate and another deputy was able to disable the vehicle with a spike strip, with it coming to a stop near Exit 62.

Brown is currently being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail for Okitebbha County Sheriff’s Office on First Degree Murder warrant.
