MOUNDVILLE, AL — Moundville Archaeological Park last week officially debuted a new automated gate aimed at helping to improve the safety and security of the park.

The park has also introduced its new Moundville Residents Pass, which allows for free admission and a unique code to use at the automated gate each time patrons enter the park.

To receive the residents pass, patrons will need to present a valid driver's license and recent utility bill showing a current Moundville address. Passes must be renewed during the month of February each year, with passes and gate codes from the previous year becoming invalid on March 1.
Park officials also said all past and present pass holders will need to reapply to receive a new pass and gate code.
