Moundville Man Charged, One Victim ID'd After Fatal Shooting In Tuscaloosa Saturday Night

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has charged a Moundville man with murder and attempted murder after a Saturday night shooting in Tuscaloosa left one man dead and another fighting for his life.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Marty Sellers said in an update late Saturday night that Tuscaloosa Police responded to the 3000 block of 20th Street at 6:16 p.m. on the initial call reporting that two people had been shot.

Sellers said TPD officers found two men from Tuscaloosa had been shot inside the house.

Both men were in critical condition and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center.

Sellers went on to explain that witnesses physically described the suspect leaving the scene in a vehicle belonging to one of the victims.

The suspect was identified as a 30-year-old Devin Martez Quinzy, who investigators made contact with by phone in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

Sellers said Quinzy turned himself in to the police in the parking lot of a business on Highway 69 South Saturday night.

He then said 66-year-old Mitchell Lewis, of Tuscaloosa, died at the hospital as a result of his injuries from the the shooting, while the other victim remains in critical condition.

"There is no evidence of an argument prior to the shooting," Sellers said. " Mr. Quinzy is related to the victim who is still at DCH.

Quinzy was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on charges of murder and attempted murder, with his bond yet to be set by a judge.
