Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes Southbound Lanes of I-59 In Tuscaloosa

7 p.m. update: ALEA says the roadway is now open.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama State Troopers are on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 59 that has closed the southbound lanes near the 77 mile marker.

ALEA Public Information Officer and Senior Trooper Reginal King told local media that the collision occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

No word has been provided by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency as to potential victims, the number of vehicles involved or a timetable for reopening the southbound lanes.
